Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Clwyd West MS Darren Millar Chaired his last meeting of the Senedd’s Cross Party Group on Faith this week (Wednesday April 2nd) after 17 years in the role.
Darren was the founding member of the group, which was set up to highlight the positive contribution of faith groups to communities in Wales.
He has stood down as Chair due to his new commitments as Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and will be replaced by his colleague North Wales MS Sam Rowlands.
Speaking after his final meeting, Darren said:
“It has been a privilege to Chair the Senedd’s Cross Party Group on Faith since its establishment in 2008.
“I have been involved from the very beginning and I am incredibly proud of all the work we have done, and the things we have achieved by working together over the years.
“As Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, my diary is now busier than ever and unfortunately, I can no longer devote the time and attention it needs..
“I am extremely pleased that my colleague and North Wales MS Sam Rowlands has agreed to step into my shoes and I look forward to to continuing to engage with him on work of the group.”
Darren’s final meeting as Chair focused on Faith in Universities and the impact of higher education cuts on religious studies in Wales.
