Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has called for an urgent meeting with Conwy County Council’s Head of Highways over home to school transport arrangements for Betws-yn-Rhos pupils following cost cutting changes which have left parents up in arms.
Conwy County Borough Council made changes to existing arrangements in a bid to cut costs following a massive overspend on its budget last year.
Parents with children attending Ysgol Betws-yn-Rhos contacted Mr Millar to express concerns over new taxi operators being appointed without their knowledge, uncertainty over criminal checks on drivers, and some taxis not turning up to collect pupils at the start of school year.
Darren Millar AM said: "I have asked for an urgent meeting to discuss this with Head of Highways, Stuart Davies.
"The situation at Ysgol Betws-yn-Rhos provides yet more evidence that Conwy County Borough Council's management of home to school transport is in disarray.
"The council officers responsible for this shambles must be held to account and the local authority must move quickly to restore the confidence of parents of children using these services.
"I look forward to meeting with the Council to discuss these matters in due course."
