Darren Millar MS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Clwyd West, has called for urgent action to resolve car parking chaos at hospital sites across North Wales, after the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board advised patients to consider using public transport or having a family member drop them off for hospital appointments.
Darren has been pressing the Health Board to introduce additional parking facilities at their hospital sites for a number of years, and requested an update from the Chair of the Health Board during a recent meeting.
Darren said:
“I am regularly contacted by constituents who are frustrated over the difficulty in accessing parking spaces at local hospitals.”
He added:
"We've had years of promises of improvements at hospital car parks in North Wales only to see plans abandoned.
“Park and ride schemes that worked, have been axed, and plans for multi-storey car parks have been scrapped.
“Hospital appointments are stressful enough for patients and their loved ones without having the struggle of finding a parking space.
“Betsi must get to grips with this issue for the sake of patients, visitors and staff.”
