At First Minister’s Questions (FMQs) today, The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives questioned whether the Welsh Government was standing up for the people of Wales by demanding greater support for Welsh businesses, farmers and public services.
Darren Millar MS reiterated calls for the UK Government to scrap the family farms and family firms taxes, to cover the funding shortfall resulting from Rachel Reeves’ employer NI rise and to reinstate funding for North Wales main line electrification.
While it is clear that Labour will once again raise taxes on working people, Millar criticised Plaid Cymru and Reform for being “no better” as regards to their plans for Wales and the UK.
Commenting, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS said:
“It is clear that Labour is set to hit working people with yet more taxes tomorrow, extending Rachel Reeves’ doom loop, but the other parties are no better.
“Plaid wants to bankrupt us by tearing up the UK and they continue to support open borders. In the meantime, Reform wants more welfare and pie in the sky spending, with no plan for how taxpayers will foot the bill.
“Only the Conservatives have a credible plan to cut tax, cut waste, get welfare spending back under control, and get the Welsh economy moving.”
