Engaged couples in North Wales are being encouraged to enrol in a new marriage preparation course which be running from September.
Couples can expect to cover topics such as commitment, communication, resolving conflict and staying in love amongst others.
The UK has the highest divorce rate in Europe and research has shown that couples who complete a marriage preparation course are more likely to stay together.
Course co-ordinator, Karen Sadler, said, 'It amazes me that people prepare their cars for MOTs but don't make the effort to prepare for marriage.
'The Marriage Preparation Course helps couples to develop strong foundations for a lifelong partnership and those who have been on the course have really benefited from the experience.'
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar said, 'Getting married is one of the biggest commitments that anyone can make and couples who prepare for it are more likely to stick together.
'Strong marriages don't just benefit the couples that marry - they also benefit the communities where they live and provide the best environment for children to be raised.
'I wholeheartedly support Karen and encourage engaged couples in the area to register for the course - they won't be disappointed.'
The free course will start in September and will be meeting weekly for 5 weeks at the Interchange, Abergele Road, Old Colwyn. For more details or to enrol on the course contact 01492 514021 or email info@surehope.co.uk.
