Commenting on today’s news that overstretched junior doctors in Wales are reporting ‘regular and frequent’ rota gaps, Acting Shadow Health spokesperson, Darren Millar AM, said:
“These gaps are a consequence of the Welsh Labour-led Government's failure to properly plan for the workforce needs of our NHS.
“Ministers have failed to listen to our calls and those of professional bodies over the past decade calling for more doctors to be trained and the chickens are now coming home to roost.
“This failure to act will put pressure on existing staff and risks compromising the safety and quality of services provided to Welsh patients.
“Ministers must act now to solve the NHS recruitment crisis which they have caused.”
