It has emerged that many Colwyn Bay residents missed out on the opportunity to air their views about controversial plans to change North Wales NHS services because of a postal blunder.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has called for another public meeting with health chiefs to be held in Colwyn Bay after being told in a letter from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board that there was a problem delivering leaflets advertising the original meetings.
As part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s consultation on their proposals three public meetings were held at Eirias Park in September, but all were poorly attended.
Mr Millar said:
"The letter from the health board states that Royal Mail have confirmed that two postcodes in the Colwyn Bay area did not receive the leaflets.
"The turnout at the meetings was very poor, which is not surprising if people didn’t know about them.
"Health chiefs must take action to ensure that further meetings are now organised to ensure that people in the town have the chance to find out more about the Health Board's proposals for services in their area - particularly given local concerns over the future of the Minor Injuries Unit at Colwyn Bay Community Hospital."
