Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is calling on schools in his constituency to encourage pupils to develop their communication skills and build their confidence by taking part in a the bilingual joke competition.
The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is running Wales’ first ‘Voice Box’ awards supported by NAHT and Parentkind and are inviting mainstream primary and special schools to take part.
Darren said:
“The Voice Box awards aim to raise awareness of the importance and fun of communication and offer schools a lighthearted and inclusive way for pupils to develop their communication skills and build their confidence and self-esteem.
“Schools can get involved by entering a joke before 21st December 2018. They can either support an individual pupil who wants to take part or hold a joke-telling competition to find an entry.
“All participating schools will have their joke featured in the 2019 Wales Voice Box joke book and will receive a complimentary copy for their library.”
Once all entries are submitted by December 21st, judges will then shortlist the best jokes to go forward to a live final, which will be held at The Senedd on 3rd April 2019. There will be 10 finalists selected to participate in the live final, and prizes on the day include an iPad.
