Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed the introduction of a new rural crime prevention scheme in North Wales.
Online Watch Link is free to use and is now up and running across rural North Wales as a replacement for the previous Farm Watch crime prevention scheme. OWL can be used to share information between police and residents, and to issue crime alerts.
Darren was pleased to meet with Denbighshire County Councillors, Huw Williams and Martyn Holland, and the NW Police this week to discuss its roll out.
Speaking after the meeting Darren said:
"OWL is a great tool for local residents and the police to safely share information and help the community to prevent and detect crime.
"It is vital that as many people as possible register and use the new scheme for it to have maximum benefit in the rural community."
Cllr Huw Williams said:
"I've recently registered with the new scheme - anything that helps to prevent crime and make our communities safer is to be welcomed."
Cllr Martyn Holland said:
"Farm Watch was an extremely successful scheme and it is important that OWL builds on that success, I'd encourage as many locals as possible to get involved."
Libby Lee, Community Safety Support Officer with the North Wales Police said:
"We have already experienced a huge interest and support from the public, especially in rural areas of the Force, with 2,000 new members.
"With the new system there is now far more choice on how you receive you messages including Text, landline voice message and emails."
