Leader of the Welsh Conservatives Darren Millar, who was re-elected to the Senedd last Thursday, has thanked the people of Clwyd for putting their confidence in him.
Darren is one of six Members of the Senedd representing the new Clwyd constituency.
Prior to last week's election, he represented the Clwyd West constituency for 19 years.
After taking the Oath of Allegiance as a Member of the Senedd for Clwyd this week, Darren reflected on his return and thanked all those who voted for him.
He said:
"It is a great honour to represent a part of North Wales where I have grown up and raised my family, and I am thrilled to have been returned so that I can continue fighting for what is best for this beautiful part of Wales.
"I want to thank people across the new Clwyd constituency for putting their confidence in me and I pledge to serve them to the very best of my ability."
He added:
"It was a tough election on many levels and whilst I am pleased that the Welsh Conservatives did better than the polls predicted, we lost some hardworking MSs across Wales, including my friend and colleague Gareth Davies who represented the Vale of Clwyd so diligently over the past five years.
"He fought passionately for the constituency during his time in office and will be sorely missed by many."
Darren also paid tribute to his campaign team and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the campaign.
He added:
"I was very fortunate to have a great team who worked flat out knocking on doors, posting leaflets, putting signs up and supporting me in every way that they possibly could. I am deeply grateful for their commitment and energy throughout the campaign.
"Looking ahead to the new Senedd term, I pledge to continue working hard for the people I represent, holding the new Welsh Government to account, and ensuring that Clwyd receives the funding and attention it needs to prosper."
