Responding to news that Denbighshire County Council has decided to withdraw its planning application for a new recycling park in Rhuddlan, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for the Environment and Planning in the Assembly, said:-
'I welcome this decision by Denbighshire County Council.
'The proposed site was clearly unsuitable due to its proximity to a nationally important historic site, its location on a flood plain and the overwhelming local opposition to the plans.
'I have long argued for a more sensible approach to planning with regards to flood risk and I trust that the council will now seek a site which is more suitable for this scheme.
'It is vitally important that the council now looks to another more suitable location, which has the support of local people, to develop the recycling facilities which the area needs.'
