Clwyd West AM Darren Millar spent Saturday afternoon in Ruthin Tesco helping to collect food for those in need.
Tesco, working with the Trusell Trust and FareShare, decided to take part in the National Food Collection after recently commissioning research which showed that almost one in 10 people in the UK have skipped meals, gone without food or relied on family and friends in the last year.
Darren said:
"It is important that we support those who are struggling in our communities, particularly during the festive season and I was pleased to see so many shoppers being generous by donating items of food to this very worthy cause.
"The volunteers involved in food banks across Wales are doing a fantastic job and I'm pleased that Tesco is giving them such support. People were able to donate on both Saturday and Sunday and Tesco have agreed to top up the value of all donations by 30%."
