Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Clwyd MS Darren Millar is calling on residents, community groups, businesses and families to come together and support the upcoming Prostate Cymru Walk of Wales.
Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer in men in the UK, with 1 in 8 men diagnosed in their lifetime (rising to 1 in 4 for Black men, 1 in 3 with a family history).
The Walk of Wales is a high-profile, nationwide initiative designed to bring communities together to walk, raise awareness, and combat prostate diseases.
This year, Prostate Cymru has set an ambitious mission to raise £300,000. Every penny of this £300,000 will be used specifically to fund specialist cancer nurses across Welsh health boards.
By directly funding these dedicated nursing positions within the NHS, the campaign will ensure that men facing a prostate cancer diagnosis in Wales, have access to the expert, compassionate and localised care they need from day one.
Encouraging people in Clwyd to take part, Darren said:
“Prostate cancer affects far too many families across Wales.
“Events like the Prostate Cymru Walk of Wales not only raise vital funds, but also help raise awareness and encourage important conversations around men’s health. I encourage everyone who can to take part, support the walkers and help make a real difference.”
Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join, whether walking in memory of a loved one, supporting someone currently undergoing treatment, or simply wanting to support a worthwhile cause.
