Darren Millar, AM for Clwyd West, has given his support to the third National Eye Health Week by visiting a local Colwyn Bay optician.
Whilst meeting staff at Alton Murphy Opticians and the RNIB, Darren learnt that many of us don’t know the best way to look after our eyes. Regular sight tests protect eye sight but can also detect a whole host of health problems.
Speaking after the visit Darren, who is also Shadow Minister for Health, said,
"The dedicated and friendly staff at Alton Murphy Opticians taught me a lot about the importance of eye health.
"Many of us, myself included, would be terrified at the thought of losing our sight.
"But I was astonished to learn that whilst over 50 per cent of sight loss is actually preventable, many of us aren’t taking the simple steps needed to look after our eyes."
"I urge you to ask yourself, when was your last eye test?"
