Natwest Bank has announced that it will be closing its Abergele and Rhos-on-Sea branches later this year.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has condemned the decision which he said will see local residents and businesses “inconvenienced”.
He said:
“This is very disappointing news indeed. These closures will inconvenience personal and business customers, leaving them without advice and support from branch staff and undermine efforts to support local high streets by leaving prominent buildings empty.
“Both Abergele and Rhos-on-Sea have a large elderly populations and while many elderly customers have mastered internet banking and are happy to do their banking in this way, I know there are still many who prefer traditional face-to-face banking services and will miss being able to pop into their local branch.
“I appreciate that banks have to move with the times, but this is a devastating blow to the two towns.”
The NatWest Abergele branch is set to close on the 23rd September 2015 and the NatWest Rhos-on-Sea branch on the 10th September 2015.
