Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has been presented with an award for Community Service by Colwyn Bay Rotary Club in recognition of his 20 years of work for the local community.
The presentation took place yesterday at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club as part of Colwyn Bay Rotary's 88th Charter Lunch Event.
Darren, who has been an Honorary Member of Colwyn Bay Rotary Club for six years, said;
“It was a great honour to receive this award on Sunday and I want to pay tribute to the fantastic team of staff who support me in my efforts for the local community.
“I am truly grateful to Colwyn Bay Rotary Club for recognising the work I do in the area. The award means a great deal to me and will motivate me to do even more in the future."
Chair of Colwyn Bay Rotary Club, Gordon Nugent, said:
“The citation read out to the members, wives and guests recognised Darren’s effective, energetic and tireless support at all levels of Government for the people of this area of North Wales over the last 20 years.
“It recognised his career through Local Government culminating in the achievements of the last 8 years as Assembly Member holding Shadow Ministerial posts including his current opposition front bench role as Shadow Minister of Health. It highlighted his impressive list of Committee and Cross Party Committee roles including his current Chairs both of the Public Accounts Committee and the Cross Party Group on Faith.
“Despite all this involvement at Cardiff, Darren finds time to fight local issues, hands-on, such as the Betsi Cadwaladr Maternity problem and resisting the closure of local GP Surgeries and Schools.”
