Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has recently returned from a visit to Israel where he participated in a seminar at the International Institute for Holocaust Research based at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.
Darren spent just over a week on the visit which was organised by the Council of Christians and Jews.
He said:
“It was a privilege to have the opportunity to visit Israel and participate in this Seminar which was extremely informative and challenging.
“During the seminar we heard testimonies from Holocaust survivors and lectures from world renowned academics on the history of anti-semitism, the Holocaust, the events leading to the establishment of the State of Israel, and the current Israel-Palestine conflict.
“It is essential that we never forget the horrors of the Holocaust and that we learn from the appalling way in which Jews and other minorities were treated by the Nazis and their allies.”
While in Israel, Darren also attended the Official Opening of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament) and laid a wreath at the commonwealth war memorial in Jerusalem in memory of the Welsh troops who died there during the First World War.
