The number of people claiming out of work benefits in Clwyd West has fallen considerably, according to latest statistics.
As from April 2015, the Claimant Count has included all claimants of Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), plus those Universal Credit claimants who are required to seek work and be available for work.
Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that the number of claimants in Clwyd West in March 2018 was down 49% since 2010, at 870.
Welcoming the news, Clwyd West AM Darren Millar, said:
“This massive reduction in the claimant count in Clwyd West is great news and reflects the increase of support in helping people back into work.
“I am delighted that more people than ever before in Clwyd West are in work and able to provide for their families and build a better future for themselves and their children.
“The Conservatives have been working hard to make sure that our economy remains strong so we can continue to create better, higher-paying jobs for everyone and this is clearly reflected in these latest figures for Clwyd West.”
