Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has visited a leading veterans support charity in Colwyn Bay this week to receive an update on their plans following the Chancellor's announcement of £500k funding in last week's budget.
Change Step is a Cais led peer mentoring and advice service for military veterans and others with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other psychosocial problems who want to make positive changes to their lives.
Darren has long championed their work and was delighted last week when the Chancellor announced they would receive half a million to develop their work.
Darren said:
“It was great to catch up with the fantastic team at Change Step who are absolutely over the moon that they are to receive this additional funding.
“As Chair of the Cross Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets in the Assembly, I have long been highlighting the dreadful impact of PTSD on many former servicemen and women, and their families, in Wales, and calling for more to be done to help them.
“This funding boost is fantastic news for veterans and the armed forces community across North Wales, and a testament to the invaluable work spearheaded by CAIS. They told me that the money will be used wisely and in the interests of the long term sustainability of the programme.”
