Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has welcomed news that a project in his constituency is to receive funding from the People’s Health Trust.
Colwyn Bay based Engedi are to receive £18,656 to for their ‘Gorjys Communities Project’. This two year project will continue to deliver an existing programme of music events and workshops developed from feedback from community events held over the last five years.
Overcoming the financial and logistical issues which currently prevent local people from accessing vents, the idea is to create opportunities for the local community to engage with the arts, joining in and meeting up with other local people in arts workshops on a weekly basis. The project will create stronger social unity allowing local people from Colwyn Bay to lead and share activities and create a stronger community.
Darren said:
“The People’s Health Trust, an independent charity which invests in local communities to help to create a society without health inequalities, fund ideas which are designed and run by local people.
“Engedi do wonderful work in the local community and I am delighted they have received this funding to enable them to continue with this.”
The People’s Health Trust are able to support local organisations as a result of Health Diverse, a community interest company which operate a society lottery within Clwyd West, which is promoted through The Health Lottery brand.
To date the Health Diverse Society lottery has raised £1,855,276 through The Health Lottery for Conwy, Denbighshire, Anglesey, Wrexham, Flintshire, Gwynedd and Powys.
