Enterprising locals who transformed a Denbighshire rural pub after it almost closed because of financial troubles have been praised by two politicians who visited the popular establishment last week.
Clwyd West AM Darren Millar and the Deputy Minister for Rural Affairs Alun Davies AM visited the Raven Inn in Llanarmon-yn-lâl, near Mold, on Thursday.
Darren said:
“The Raven Inn is a great example of how a local pub can be kept and run by dedicated local volunteers. What the community has achieved here must be commended. Community pubs are hugely valuable to the local community, but unfortunately far too many have been forced to close in recent years.”
Alun added:
“More than 1,100 pubs have closed in North Wales in the last decade and the Raven Inn would have been included in that figure had the community not stepped in. They have done a sterling job in saving this pub, which is, as a pub should be, the heart of the local community.”
