Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has congratulated a Denbighshire community-run village shop which was awarded a prestigious rural business award in Cardiff this week.
Darren was delighted to see Siop Pwllglas, near Ruthin, receive the title of Village Shop of the Year 2015 at the Countryside Alliance Awards which took place at the Senedd on Tuesday evening.
Nicknamed "The Rural Oscars", the Countryside Alliance annual awards are the leading rural business awards to win. Operating across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland they celebrate the very best of rural produce and community.
Darren who officially opened Siop Pwllglas three years ago said:
“This is an incredible achievement for Siop Pwllglas which has been thriving since it opened three years ago and has really become the heart of the local community.
“I am delighted that the Countryside Alliance have recognised the efforts of all the volunteers involved in this project and the fantastic work they are doing in championing quality local produce and providing an outlet for local producers, as well as providing a meeting place and information point for residents.
“I would like to congratulate Siop Pwllglas on their award and wish them continued success for the future.”
