Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed today’s announcement by BT that Rhos-on-Sea is one of five North Wales communities selected to benefit from faster broadband.
Abersoch, Cemaes Bay, Llanberis, Mostyn and Rhos on Sea are among fifteen more communities in Wales to benefit from upgrades as part of the roll-out of BT’s next generation broadband service delivered over copper lines.
Darren said:
"I am delighted that homes and businesses in Rhos-on-Sea will soon be able to enjoy the benefits that faster broadband can bring. More than ever, high speed communications are crucial in the fast-moving and changing world that we work and live in and I look forward to the benefits this faster broadband will bring to my constituents."
The latest rollout will benefit 14,700 homes and businesses in total across North Wales and will make available download speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps) – more than double the fastest speed previously available from BT.
The news has also been welcomed by Colin Brew, executive director of West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce.
He said: "Fast broadband is essential for doing business in 21st century Wales. The West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce fully supports BT’s commercial investment, which is bringing faster connection speeds to communities across North Wales. We look forward to seeing BT’s continued programme of investment, which is delivering faster connection speeds and enabling businesses to prosper."
