Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has called for an urgent meeting with Post office Limited following its announcement that its Abergele branch will be relocating.
Post office Ltd is proposing to move the Abergele branch from its current location on Market Street to Whiteside’s convenience store further down the street.
The plans have been met with much anger in the town.
Darren said:
“Abergele residents are very worried about these proposals and I have therefore called for an urgent meeting to highlight their concerns.
“Whilst Post Office Limited are arguing that the relocation will allow for extended opening hours, residents are concerned that disabled access is worse than at the current location. They are also worried that the current photo services for driving licences and passports will be lost, there are no plans to provide a 24 hour cash machine and that there will be less privacy for customers.”
Mayor Cllr Sam Rowlands added: “Post Office Ltd is currently carrying out a 6 week local public consultation on the proposals and I urge them to listen properly and act on the concerns of the people who these changes will affect.
“In the meantime I hope that they agree to meeting with Darren and myself so that we can clearly highlight all of the concerns that have been raised with us.”
