Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has attended an event this week which spotlighted the need to increase access to therapeutic services for people with Parkinson’s.
The Parkinson’s UK event was held in the Assembly on Tuesday and was supported by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the College of Occupational Therapists and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Darren said:
“It was good to hear from the various speakers at this event and to learn more about why these services are essential to improve the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s.
“There’s currently no cure for Parkinson’s, however there are several therapies that can make living with Parkinson’s disease easier and help patients, but unfortunately their availability is sporadic.
“The value of therapy services such as physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and dietetics, for people living with this illness can not be underestimated and it is vital that the Welsh Government listens to the calls of Parkinson’s UK and works to ensure that Parkinson’s patients in Wales are not denied access to them in the future.”
