Following the proposed closure of a Colwyn Bay dental practice, Clwyd West MS Darren Millar has launched an online petition in a bid to ensure people in the area are able to access the dental services they need.
Bupa Dental announced last week that it would be closing practices in Colwyn Bay and Caernarfon, leaving approximately 20,000 patients across both sites without access to a dentist.
Since that time, Darren has been contacted by patients concerned about how they will access dental care following the closure.
He raised the matter in the Senedd this week and has now launched a campaign to ‘save dental services in Colwyn Bay’.
He said:
“The announcement of the closure of the Bupa Dental practice in Colwyn Bay has left patients extremely worried about how they will access dental services in the future.
“Access to dental care in North Wales is already problematic, so the closure of this practice, which serves such a large number of patients, is a really worry.
“I have launched this campaign in the hope that it will make the health board and the Welsh Government listen and respond positively to the serious concerns of my constituents, and I urge people to sign it.
“If we want to protect dental services, then we must come together and make our voices heard.”
