Responding to news that Assembly Government Health Minister Edwina Hart has approved the merger of Conwy and Denbighshire NHS Trust and the North East Wales NHS Trust to form the North Wales NHS Trust, Clwyd West AM, Darren Millar said:-
'This is a very positive move which is to be welcomed.
'A merger of the trusts should help to reduce the number of management and administrative posts in the local health service and allow savings to be invested in frontline services for the benefits of patients.
‘But it must not be seen as a green light for big payoffs for senior management who lose their jobs.
‘I will now be watching carefully to ensure that the merger is properly managed so that patient care remains the priority throughout.
'Streamlining NHS management in North Wales should help to release funds for frontline services and to safeguard the future of Abergele Hospital which is yet to be determined.’
