Ageism has no place in 21st century Wales and all mistreatment of older people must be stamped out – for good.
That’s the message from Welsh Conservatives today, who’ve added their voices to the International Day of Older Persons and the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales’ campaign to ‘Say No to Ageism’.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Older People, Darren Millar AM, said:
“There is no place for ageism in 21st century Wales and I will continue to assist efforts to stamp it out – for good.
“Huge strides forward are being made in older peoples’ rights in Wales but there is still much work to do.
“The percentage of Welsh people aged over 65 is now the highest since census records began and each individual deserves our utmost respect.
“Welsh ministers often blame older people for pressures in our NHS and it’s crucial that they are treated less like a burden – and more like the hugely important part of our society that they are.”
