Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has been handed a petition calling for greater efforts to renegerate Colwyn Bay’s West End.
Petitioners have suggested that their end of Colwyn Bay is being overlooked as a result of the focus on the town centre and the waterfront.
Darren has forwarded their concerns to the Chief Executive of Conwy County Borough Council.
He said:
“Colwyn Bay has seen something of a revival in its fortunes in recent years but not all parts of the town feel as though they are benefiting.
"Whilst petitioners are pleased to note the ongoing development of a new modern primary care centre in the West End of Colwyn Bay they are keen to see further improvements.
"I have written to the Chief Executive of Conwy Council asking him to provide me with an update on the local authority's efforts to regenerate the West End so that I can share this with the petitioners.
“Colwyn Bay town centre and the waterfront are on the way up and I am very impressed with what has been achieved in these areas, but it is vital that the West End is not forgotten. There are many established businesses in this end of the town and we must do all we can to ensure that they have thriving futures.
“I am confident that the Chief Executive will listen to the concerns of the petitioners and reassure them that the West End of Colwyn Bay will not be neglected.”
