Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is calling on Tesco shoppers to support the supermarket in their efforts to collect food to help people in need.
As part of its partnership with the Trussell Trust and FareShare, Tesco is holding its seventh National Food Collection and Darren is keen to ensure it is the most successful to date in Abergele and Ruthin.
Darren said:
“Christmas can be a difficult time for individuals and families who may be struggling to make ends meet or facing a crisis.
“Donations made to Trussell Trust foodbanks are used to provide nutritionally-balanced, emergency food parcels to people who have been referred by frontline professional agencies such as Citizens Advice or children’s centres.
“The Abergele and Vale of Clwyd foodbanks do a fantastic job of supporting people who find themselves in a desperate situation and will be collecting in the store between December 3rd and 5th.
"Tesco shoppers have always been extremely generous with their donations in the past and I hope they extend their generosity to this year’s collection.
“Tesco top up customer donations by making a 30% financial contribution, so by getting involved people will not only help provide vital food for UK people experiencing crisis, but funds will help Trussell Trust foodbanks provide important support beyond food.”
