Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed news that Ruthin Post Office is to benefit from modernisation and investment.
Post Office Limited have announced that the Post Office is to be transformed into one its new main style branches, creating a more modern and convenient retail experience for customers that will include longer opening hours.
Darren said:
“I am pleased that the newly refurbished branch in Ruthin will provide the same products and services and longer opening hours.
“Post Office services are vital to local communities, but unfortunately in recent years we have witnessed many communities losing these assets. It is therefore always great to see investment in Post Office services and I am sure that customers old and new in Ruthin will welcome the new look facility."
The Ruthin branch has been selected as part of the major programme of modernisation and investment taking place across the Post Office network, the largest in the history of Post Office Ltd, which will see up to 8,000 branches modernised and additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.
The programme is underpinned by UK Government investment, with their commitment of £1.34bn in 2010 to maintain and modernise the Post Office network and their announcement in November 2013 of a further £640m investment in the Post Office network until 2018.
The new-look Ruthin Post Office is scheduled to open at the current location on Monday 18 January 2016 at 13:00.
It will need to close for refurbishment on Tuesday 05 January 2016 at 17:30. If there are any unforeseen schedule changes which mean these dates change, posters will be displayed in branch to let customers know.
