Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has welcomed today’s announcement by the Chancellor of a ‘record’ £5bn to get gigabit-capable broadband into the hardest to reach areas of the UK and said it is great news for those living in the rural areas in his constituency “who have been struggling for too long”.
The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak has called it a commitment to the ‘largest ever public investment into UK broadband’ and said it would be ’40 times faster than standard superfast and available in the most difficult to reach areas’.
Darren said:
“For far too long people living in rural parts of Conwy and Denbighshire have struggled to get the internet access and speeds that they require. Over the years I’ve been contacted by parents who are concerned that their children are unable to do their home work and small businesses struggling to operate. This investment will put an end to all that.
“More than ever, high speed communications are crucial in the fast-moving and changing world that we work and live in so I look forward to the benefits this improved broadband will bring to my constituents".
