Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has expressed concern over the North Wales Police plans to cut front counter services in Colwyn Bay.
Under new arrangements, which were approved by the North Wales Police Authority this week, the busy resort town will only have access to police counter services on two days per week.
Nearby Rhyl will retain a full seven day per week counter services.
Commenting on the changes, Darren said:
"I strongly oppose any reduction in counter services in Colwyn Bay and am disappointed that the police force has not consulted more widely on these proposals.
"As the largest population centre on the North Wales Coast, Colwyn Bay deserves a more comprehensive service. Especially given the resurgence in visitors we hope to see as a result of regeneration efforts and the planned increase in major sporting events in the town.
"If Rhyl is retaining comprehensive cover then Colwyn Bay should too."
Notes:
Current provision for front counter services in Colwyn Bay is 0900 – 1900 hours
seven days a week, with cover shared with Llandudno in absence.
